Malay ---> English ---> Malay

A friend... after reading the 'Talent Management" article in the STAR newspaper last wed... which I didn't have a chance to read yet... (hopefully still available in his office).... propped a question to me on the recent decision to switch back the science and maths teaching in school from english to malay....

The long-term aim or target of teaching science and maths in english is definitely beneficial.... to the students and to the country.... After all, this idea was first thought by my idol, Tun M.... Off course I'm on his side... Hmm....

Having the opportunity to know some primary school kids made me think on the progress and the achievement of the program so far.... The kids can be categorized from rural area... Although I'm sure in other states, rural is much much rural as compared to Penang's rural area...

Their english.... hmm.... it is already set in their mind that English is difficult....

I gave them 'Insya Allah' lyrics during last nite class.... And we sang in the class.... Pitching lari jauh betul...!!! But it was fun....
When I asked what is the song about?.... I can only hear one boy answering.... "Insaf, cikgu..."
Luckily, at least one of them got it....

In another class, a boy scored zero in a maths quiz I gave them... in english off course..
Am preparing the malay version now.... just to see whether it was due to english...!!! Or really his maths...!!!

What more can I say.... matlamatnya bagus.... tapi pelaksanaan tak sampai....
Maybe with better method, there is no need to switch back to malay.....
